Highwayland

Knightdale Bypass from the north entrance ramp

Since my brother Pete was visiting from Hong Kong I figured he would be tough to impress. He even has a wristwatch camera. (Like Dick Tracy) But had he ever walked on a highway being built? Turned out the answer was no. So I took him up on the US 64 Bypass construction site. This is one of the first things a person would see coming to the Bypass interchange from the north. It looks a little creepy at this stage...

Now you can see where we are going. The ramp will merge with US 64 eastbound after crossing over the I-440 Beltline.

Up on the bridge

Pete really enjoyed the bridge. He took this picture as well as the one on the home page.

Drainage Pipe on Bridge

This is a drainage pipe which helps keep the water off the road surface on the bridge.

The orange thing is a scaffold.

My brother Pete figured it out when I started wondering out loud how they got the graffiti on the side of the bridge right over I - 440. I kept saying to him "how did they get that up there? how did they get that up there?" I had been wondering for months, actually.

Here is the Grafitti

And here's how it's done:

More ramps

When I want to go to North Raleigh I take the ramp in the background. When I want to go to Cary or South Raleigh I take the ramp in the foreground. Why travel to Greece when you have all this right in your backyard?
